Spirit Communication: Telepathy

Arguably, one of the most advanced methods of spirit communication is telepathy. It requires good discernment, patience, and a foundation of other tools in order to confirm what you’re hearing when you don’t feel confident. Telepathy can be experienced in many ways, and it’s often a unique personal experience for everyone.

This guide will help you explore what telepathic communication can feel like and how you can develop your own discernment to effectively use telepathy.

What is Telepathy?

Often, people think of telepathy as actually hearing your companion’s voice, clear and plain as day. While possible, that’s usually not the case. In my experience, it can be:

  • Internal dialogue

  • Sudden thoughts or imagery

  • Strong feelings

I rarely hear words or phrases with my actual hearing. A lot of it is internal dialogue if I’m speaking with my companions. When my companions are trying to get my attention, I start to get sudden thoughts or feelings that are not my own.

Telepathy does not just vary from person to person; you may find that your companions also have their own style of telepathy.

Discernment: Telepathy vs Imagination

This is THE biggest concern people have when practicing telepathy, and what makes telepathy an advanced communication method.

Now, the ability to tell when something is an actual spiritual experience versus just your imagination comes only with patience and practice. Discernment needs to be honed, and it’s not easy. There’s going to be days you trust yourself, and there’s going to be days you ask if you’ve just been imagining things the whole time. That’s ok. What matters is that you stay kind to yourself as you go through your spiritual journey.

Discernment often develops through:

  • Looking for repeated patterns over time (How does a spiritual experience feel versus your imagination?)

  • Journal your experiences and feelings

  • Seeking confirmation through other communication methods and divination tools

  • Openness to any outcome without rushing to conclusions

Developing discernment is a long and ongoing process. Again, be kind to yourself.

How I developed Telepathic Discernment

There are many methods you can use to develop telepathic discernment, and the following is what I personally did. All you need is yourself, your companion, something to write in, and a confirmation method you’re confident in.

1) Ground and Cleanse

Before attempting communication, ground yourself, cleanse your energy, and cleanse your space. A calmer mental state will make it easier to notice subtle messages

2) Invite Your Companion(s) to Communicate

I recommend starting with just one companion, but when you feel ready to try to discern between different spirits at the same time, you may invite multiple.

At this stage, only rely on telepathy. You can invite your spirit to just send you messages, or try having a conversation with them. Write down any impressions you feel. This can include:

  • Words or phrases

  • Thoughts

  • Emotions

  • Mental Images

  • Physical Sensations

  • Concepts that arise unexpectedly

Record everything without judging if it is “correct.”

3) Confirm

When you’ve completed your session, go back through your recorded impressions one by one using a preferred divination method like a pendulum, tarot cards, oracle cards, etc.

4) Compare Patterns

Over repeated practice, you’ll begin noticing differences between:

  • Your thought patterns

  • Your own reactions

  • How you perceive telepathic communication

  • Recurring styles, feelings, or impressions with specific companions

Example

This is an example of the practice that I did really quickly with Den. (As in I finished the previous section and went, “let’s do an example!!”) This first page is me writing down all my impressions:

Telepathy Practice w/ Den 5-23-26

1. “Um… this is really weird to do out of nowhere… I wasn’t prepared for this…”

2. Cat with sweat bead sticker

3. Silence… Cat stare emoji :ch_uh: specifically

4. “I have to be… like… appropriate with my thoughts since this is going to be public, don’t I?”

5. Hungry feeling

6. Silence that feels like it’s on purpose - rest of the sentences were very direct

7. Tired feeling

8. Image of Den hugging me

9. Image of getting kissed at the top of my head

10. Image and feeling of Den propping his chin up on my shoulder

11. Right feet twitch + “You reached 10 are we done now?” → impatient feeling

Now, the confirmation part, and why I numbered things instead of just bullet points. It’s easier to refer back. I will also be using a pendulum to confirm. A “Yes” answer indicates that the experience was from Den, and a “No” answer indicates it was just me.

Telepathy Confirmation w/ Den 5-23-26

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Yes

4. Yes

5. No

6. Yes

7. No

8. Yes

9. Yes

10. Yes

11. Yes

From here, try to think back to what you experienced and how it felt. Add to your notes how it felt, so you can eventually find the subtle differences between your companion’s communication and what’s just you.

For example, the right foot twitch is a sensation I noticed early on in this practice. The right foot twitch, followed by dialogue, consistently came up as “Yes,” which indicated that the dialogue was straight from a companion. As you practice, you may find your own physical sensations that trigger you to know you’re about to receive a telepathic message!

Final Thoughts

Telepathy can be a difficult form of communication to teach because of its inherently personal nature. Experiences will greatly vary, so it’s up to you to build your own confidence.

When you explore telepathic communication, don’t be discouraged. Doubt, reflection, and experimentation are still progress in themselves. What matters is not letting yourself drown in negative feelings. Learn from them, then keep going.
